In 1972, Antalya Inner Harbor and Kaleiçi Neighborhood were taken under protection as a "Site" by the "High Council of Antiquities and Monuments" due to its unique structure. The Ministry of Tourism was awarded the Golden Apple Tourism Oscar by FIJET (International Tourism Writers Association) on April 28, 1984, for its restoration work on the "Antalya-Kaleiçi Complex". Today, Kaleiçi is an entertainment center with its hotels, hostels, restaurants and bars. Kaleici has narrow streets. They often extend from the port to the top of the outer walls. Houses may differ according to the economic power of their owners and their intended use. But they have a lot in common. They are usually made of masonry and have a tree joint. All of them have a street front and a garden without a street. There are very few windows on the first floor on the street side. On the upper floor, there are protrusions called "bay windows" suitable for both home and street architecture. These protrusions are decorated with tree ornaments. The center of the houses is the "keramik" with stone floors and access to the ground floor garden. These stomachs have resting ottomans made of wood. From here, the rooms on the ground floor and the upper floor are accessed by stairs. The ground floor is mostly the service part of the house. Here are the rooms with functions such as storage room and kitchen. The upper floor is for living. The upper floor rooms are lighter because their windows are larger. These rooms usually have two rows of windows on top of each other. The upper windows are without glass and have wooden cages, the lower windows can be opened and closed. Bay windows have small and usually colored glass in the upper windows. Many houses in Kaleiçi have been restored to their original form. Kaleiçi has turned into a tourism center with its entertainment venues, pensions, restaurants, souvenir shops and antique shops. The most famous of the historical mosques in Kaleiçi is the Yivli Minare Mosque, which is also considered the symbol of Antalya.
